Question about unemployment benefits in New York?

I have a union work, was not working rite now redundant and no job I claim unemployment, yesterday the lady on the phone asked me many questionsthen the end that I was getting a debit card and that say'd I had to do something that combines the 17, I suppose, is to activate the card, then 21 on Sunday, or call or go online and claim my benefits for the week and do every Sunday until I started workin again, but some people have said they need several weeks to start so Im not sure my benefits begin when I get to the cause of the debit card, why the lady on the phone Sunday 21 tell me im wondering if anyone knows of unemployment has met, if I get it B4 rite away or have to wait 2-3 weeks

I had to call last year here in Texas. First payment took 3 weeks but after that every two weeks,
